Writing the perfect wedding speech – new book shows you how

A new book aimed at anyone delivering a speech at a wedding has been penned by communications specialist Charlotte Mannion.

Called How to Give the Perfect Wedding Speech - available from the website www.weddingspeech.me - it takes the reader through a simple step-by-step process of how to:

• get ideas for the speech,
• prepare the speech
• practise the speech
• deliver the speech on the day
• combat those nerves.

There are a few exercises notes pages for readers to complete to help them compile their own speech and to deliver it with confidence. With an increasing number of brides giving a speech at their wedding, the book is aimed equally at women and men.

Charlotte’s background is in communications and she is an expert in coaching business owners, managers and employees in all areas of communication, from the written word, to presentations, to customer relations, handling complaints and delivering feedback.

She was inspired to write How to Give the Perfect Wedding Speech from her own experience of listening to speeches at weddings.

“I realised that many people simply didn’t know how to write a speech and, more often, deliver the speech,” she said. “It is a very important part of the day – people may not remember the flowers, or the stationery or even the venue but they will definitely recall the quality of the speeches.”

Charlotte looked to see if there were any other books around and found none. “There is plenty of advice on delivering business presentations and even off-the-shelf speeches are available, but I found nothing which would help people to write their own speech and deliver it themselves, in confidence, to the enjoyment of their audience.”

As well as the book, Charlotte also offers coaching packages to groups or individuals who have to make a wedding speech. These can be booked through www.weddingspeech.me

One thing Charlotte does not do is write the speech herself. She said: “A speech has to be personal, from the heart and that can only be delivered by someone – be that the bride, groom, or best man – who really knows the people involved intimately.

“I have given a speech, at my son’s wedding, and I am told it went down well, so I do have first hand experience myself.”

How to Give the Perfect Wedding Speech costs £7.99 and can be ordered through www.weddingspeech.me
